Associate Creative Director – Internal Agency

Role Overview
The Associate Creative Director (ACD) reports to the Head of Creative Standards within Abbott Nutrition’s internal agency, Creative + Digital Services (CDS). This role is responsible for concepting and delivering high‑quality, strategically grounded
creative across all marketing channels, including Digital, Print, Shopper, OOH, HCP, and CRM. The ACD provides hands‑on creative leadership to copywriters and visual designers from ideation through production, ensuring all work aligns with brand strategy, campaign objectives, and Abbott brand standards. This role partners closely with Strategic Planning, brand teams, and external agencies to develop integrated campaigns and promotional programs that drive impact and consistency. 

Core Responsibilities

Creative Leadership & Direction

  • Lead the development and delivery of best‑in‑class creative concepts and executions across channels.
  • Translate brand strategies and business objectives into compelling creative approaches.
  • Set the creative vision for assignments and guide work from concept through final delivery.
  • Ensure creative solutions align with briefs, timelines, and strategic goals.
  • Provide clear creative direction, feedback, and problem‑solving throughout the process.

Creative Team Leadership

  • Manage and direct a multidisciplinary creative team, including visual designers, copywriters, and contract resources.
  • Mentor, inspire, and develop creative talent to elevate quality and performance.
  • Evaluate team performance and identify development opportunities.
  • Proactively communicate progress, risks, and key creative decisions to the Head of Creative Standards.
  • Support resource planning by helping assess staffing needs, workflows, and processes.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Strategic Planning to align creative teams with insights, objectives, and briefs.
  • Contribute to the development of clear, executable creative briefs.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with cross‑functional partners to drive effective collaboration and outcomes.

Client Partnership & Presentation

  • Understand brand partner goals and translate them into impactful creative solutions.
  • Actively participate in shaping new opportunities for the internal agency and expanding client partnerships.
  • Lead presentations of creative strategies, concepts, and work in progress to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and contribute to brainstorming sessions that generate innovative communication ideas.

Design Execution & Quality Control

  • Apply and evolve brand identity systems, including typography, photography, color, and visual language.
  • Ensure consistency, craft, and production excellence across all platforms and deliverables.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control to ensure work meets creative, brand, and production standards.
  • Educate partners and team members on brand standards and creative best practices.

Brand Stewardship & Culture

  • Serve as a brand identity champion for both product and corporate branding.
  • Contribute to a strong Creative Services culture rooted in excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Balance strategic thinking with artistic sensibility to deliver differentiated, effective creative.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in an in‑house or agency creative environment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and directing creative teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating integrated creative work across channels
    (Digital, Shopper, OOH, Video/Motion, Print, Social, CRM, etc.).
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard creative tools, including Adobe Creative Suite
    (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
  • Strong visual design skills and a sharp eye for detail.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for storytelling and brand building.

The base pay for this position is $99,300.00 – $198,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
