Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor), the incumbent will perform scientific analyses on appropriate use of pesticides and statewide uniformity of enforcement response. Applies scientific methods and principles to investigate, research, analyze, and develop solutions to mitigate pesticide use hazards. Generate, analyze, and evaluate inspection and enforcement data for patterns in regulatory compliance with human health and environmental law and regulations. As part of the Enforcement Headquarters Branch, you will be part of a team that evaluates Produce Sample Analysis Reports and conducts quality control reviews; coordinates data entry to track illegal pesticide residue cases; reviews and recommends changes to pesticide use enforcement directives, interpretations, recommendations, and regulations; and plans, arranges, and conducts training of Federal, State, and county personnel on topics related to the protection of the public, workers’ health, and ecological resources.You will find additional information about the job in the .
The incumbent will work in a single-floor building, under artificial light, and sit for moderate periods of time. The incumbent may be required to facilitate projects, meetings, and training classes; occasional statewide overnight travel may be required; and travel by automobile or air may be required to different areas of the State.
NOTE: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
