Work Days: Monday-Friday, this may vary located on events.
Shift Start/End Time: Day shift
Hours Per Week: 30
Weeks Per Year: 48
This is an eleven month position that will be off four weeks per year which will most likely in July.
House Manager
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular Full Time
manager: Executive adjunct to the President
Position Purpose: supervises the general organization, management, and cleaning of the College owned residence of the President of Union College. Provides cleaning services in Feigenbaum Hall. Plays a key function in planning events and functions that take place at the President's house.
Essential Responsibilities and tasks:
» House Management : Manages all aspects of internal and external house management including housekeeping, dining, maintenance, etc. Observes and reports any and all defects, deterioration and wear and tear on the facilities. Submit and complete appropriate follow-up documentation for maintenance requests. Ensures the President's House is locked and secure. Supervises, directs, and controls maintenance performed by external vendors and ensures tasks are performed accurately and safely.
» Cleaning : Performs various cleaning actions such as dusting, washing linens, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc. in both the President's house and Feigenbaum Hall. Performs and tracks routine inspections. Supervises, directs, and controls custodial tasks performed by external vendors and ensures tasks are performed accurately and safely. Monitors inventory of custodial and cleaning supplies and replenishes supply and equipment needs when necessary.
» Collaboration : Communicates regularly with campus partners to coordinate house maintenance, organize events, and ensure house maintenance is completed. Coordinates, supervises and works during social events at the President's House such as board and donor dinners, student events, and more. Pitches in to assist colleagues as needed.
Qualifications required
»High School diploma and a minimum of two years of professional cleaning practice and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice.
» capability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
» capability to operate standard housekeeping equipment.
» capability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds) required.
» capability to stand, bend, stoop, and walk up stairs for extended periods of time required.
»Demonstrated customer service practice.
»Exceptional interpersonal and communication expertise to interact with individuals at all levels of the College.
»Demonstrated practice to maintain high levels of confidentiality and capability to treat confidential matters/information with discretion.
