Responsibilities

  • Operate computer terminals and various security systems such as Simplex Fire Systems, Cardkey Computer, and License Plate Recognition program.
  • Maintain composure and make appropriate decisions in situations involving the safety of persons and property.
  • Determine priorities among simultaneous requests and messages.
  • Transcribe radio and telephone messages quickly and accurately.
  • Meet and deal with the public in a tactful, professional manner.
  • Monitor and operate fixed base communications equipment as part of a security network.
  • Receive and transmit messages between fixed base locations and mobile units.
  • Initiate and coordinate movement of security personnel in response to routine and emergency situations.
  • Monitor electronic alarms and emergency management systems.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public on various subjects.
  • Monitor video surveillance camera systems and initiate recording of activities as necessary.
  • Prepare and type reports, testimony, statements, and other materials.
  • Perform clerical duties including filing and data coding.
  • Handle lost and found property and establish proper title and ownership.
  • Communicate clearly and calmly on two-way radio.
  • Assist individuals with directions and goodwill for the projects.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to determine priorities among simultaneous requests.
  • Ability to transcribe messages quickly and accurately.
  • Proficient in English language.
  • Ability to type at a reasonable speed with accuracy.
  • Considerable knowledge of departmental rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of codes and abbreviations for radio communications.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Successful completion of various training programs including pre-assignment security tapes, safety orientation, MSDS program, emergency evacuation, CPR/First Aid & AED, fire extinguisher training, and computer training.
  • Optional training in flagging for special events.

Work Environment

Work both inside and outdoors, with shifts covering 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week operations, typically in five 8-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime required. The role involves maintaining alertness and attention to assignments while seated for long periods.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49000.00 - $50960.00/yr.
