The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is seeking applications for an academic radiation oncologist with experience and expertise in lung malignancies (metastases, primary lung cancer, mesothelioma, thymoma). The radiation oncologist will be expected to utilize all relevant radiation modalities for the disease site including 3DCRT, IMRT, SBRT, and proton beam therapy, while working with one of the premier multi-disciplinary teams in the nation. Candidates should have exceptional clinical competency and a strong interest in clinical and/or translational research.
The Mayo Clinic Department of Radiation Oncology in Rochester, Minnesota is a leading center for innovation and excellence in patient care. The department has a fully accredited residency program with 12 medical residents and the position includes participation in education efforts for residents and medical students. A wide diversity of treatment modalities are available, including six LINACs, a four gantry proton center (with another 2 gantries set to open in 2027), brachytherapy, SBRT, intraoperative radiotherapy, Gamma Knife, clinical trials, and translational research. Over 4,000 patients are treated yearly within the department, consisting of 40 MDs. There is also a robust clinical trials infrastructure within the department to support investigator initiated clinical trials. The thoracic cancers group at Mayo Clinic has a unique daily multidisciplinary lung conference wherein a dedicated chest radiologist, interventional pulmonology, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, interventional radiologists, and thoracic surgeons all attend to discuss difficult cases. QualificationsQualified candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota.
Exemption Status Exempt Compensation Detail The minimum starting salary for Medical specialties may range from $208,000 to $708,168. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties.
